THE QUESTIONAIRE .... for Knit Sock Kit Swap!!!

What are your favorite colors? Red – dark burgandy reds and Greens – dark woodsy green.

Are you a new sock knitter? How long have you been knitting socks? I’ve been knitting socks for about 5 years. I don’t knit fancy – but I love fancy yarn!

Do you prefer solid or multicolored yarn? I like both – but nothing too dark – like black or plain brown. I really like the stripey yarns and handdyed! Yummy!

What fibers do you prefer in sock yarn? Wool. Just wool. Fingering or Sport.

Where do you usually knit socks? Where? Why EVERYWHERE. They are so portable and curious to onlookers! Great way to make new friends!

How do you usually carry/store small projects? I have an Avon Makeup bag with two sides. I usually knit my socks at the same time. So one sock fits in one side and the other side holds another.

What are your favorite sock knitting patterns? I’ve only knit Ann Norlings. I’m not very adventurous really. I just love knitting with lovely wool.

What are your favorite sock knitting techniques? I knit 1x1 cuff down, slip stitch heel, simple toes and kitchner at the end.

What new techniques would you like to try? I’m happy. New techniques are for the adventurous – I’m not one of those :o)

Do you prefer circulars or dpns for sock knitting? Oh Double Points by far. It just feels better to me!

What are some of your favorite yarns? Lorna Lace Shepherd Sock, OPAL.

What yarn do you totally covet? Alpaca. I would LOVE a pair of Alpaca socks!

Any pattern you would love to make if money and time were no object? Nope. :o)

Favorite kind of needles (brand, materials, straights or circs, etc)? I ADORE Brittany’s!I would love some size 2’s in Rosewood! Or walnut! Of course I always need TWO sets! ’Cause I’m O.C.D. that way! :o)

If you were a specific kind of yarn, which brand and kind of yarn would you be? I would be Merino Wool. Heavy. Trustworthy. Fragrant and SOFT – with proper care of course!

Do you have a favorite candy or mail-able snack? You know? I really just love M&M’s!

What’s your favorite animal? Sheep. I love sheep. I WANT sheep. But Mister says no. :o(

Do you have pets? What are their species/names/ages? Cats – Biscuit 3 years, Cali 3, Moses 5, Kenya 4. Penni is our Rat Terrier – Dog she’s going on 2! And Sir is our Parakeet.

If you were a color what color would you be? Probably Red - all firey and loud! Or on my good days? I would be Peaceful and Green. It would be good to graze in my company! :o)

Describe your favorite shirt (yours or someone else’s).. My fav shirt is a dark teal/green/blue. It’s made of a rumpled rayon – heavy. It has a v-ish neckline. Long bell shaped sleeves and the ‘tails’ are … sort of a handkerchief look.

What is your most inspiring image, flower, or object in nature? Oh. TREES. I LOVE big Old Oak trees! They are beautiful in Summer – Fall – and even in WINTER!

Reading ... Summer Reading!
I've joined the other ladies committing to
a summer read!

So from June to August I am going to
attempt to read atleast 12 books ...

A couple of them? I want to listen to on my
NEW iPOD my family gave me for Mother's Day!
I've already downloaded The Gift of the Maji
and the first chapters of Pride and Prejudice!

I'm not sure yet what my list will include. But,
I'm thinking I would like to FINISH some books
I've started and as I go along I'll make a list!

Oh. Gee. This is my June 13, 2006 Update.
What have I read so far?
the Book of Job -

that's it.
I can't seem to put my mind around any other books.
I comitted to reading the Bible through 2 years ago -
this is my 3rd year reading the entire compilation.
I keep thinking - "If I've only time to read one book? THIS should
be THE ONE that I finish."

Gads. I so should be using my 'Pod for reading while I knit.
Or maybe even while I'm out with my dog walking in the morning?

I could use some encouragement - I just feel so alone.
I attempt to connect via internet. And even in my day-to-day life ...
But. I'm just alone. Even if I do read a whole book?
There's on one I know to share it with.

Whine. Whine. Whine.
"Somebody call the WAHbulance!!!"
*Big cheesey grin here*

Realizing that I needed a support group.
Not to overcome my addiction -
but, to enjoy it to it's fullest?

for May - the Color Green.

First we have a Chartruese Baby Hat.


Knit in my own pattern.
50 stitches on size 7, Bamboo Double Points.
Sugar and Cream Cotton.
Reverse stockinette knit in Chartruese.
Stockinette rows are in Yellow.

All decreases are knit in the stockinette rows.
Clever huh?

And next?

It's my new Pocket Purse Pattern.



13, 15, or 17 stitches.
Size 15 Bamboos.
Wool - locally grown.
Mohair? Yes - 2 strands at a time.

The handle is 5 stitch i-cord.
The button?

Um. Well, it's just a button I
know how to make. Made with
a sewing needle and the 3 strands of yarn.

The purses I am making for sell at the
Farmers Market? Well, they have
Homespun and Eyelash and no buttons!
TOO CUTE for the 7-12 year old little girls!

I'm thinking in Green.
But, that's all I have gotten knit this month
in GREEN. I've done other knitting.
MUCH sewing. But - as much as I LOVE
the color GREEN? I've only so much material
to work with. I'm still trying to use what I have!

Hmmm .... I wonder what next month's colors will be?????

I've got news.

Someone bought our house.
They close May 31.
As far as we know - at this point - they
are going to let us rent from them.

the View from here is lovely.
A bit shaky. But, I'm thinking I might
plant flowers to celebrate!

Project Spectrum is GREEN this month!
Haven't decided what to knit - or sew - yet.
But, I'm thinking some CHARTRUESE is in order!

I'm also knitting up a prayer shawl for
a friend who had cancer removed from her breast yesterday -
and will be starting the radiation and chemo soon.
